don't know.. it was so difficult.. your father died early.. and you
were SO independant.. i was almost.. threatened..
arthur carlson: ahw, you know mom..
vivian: we were just two fighting
pairs.. you and i.. and then.. i just.. cracked.. under pressure..
rock music became my savior .. of sorts.. i played it too loud.. too
harshly.. i know.. it was .. abusive..
arthur carlson: it was just so.. so
strange.. the sounds were so.. eerie..
vivian: i seemed to.. crave the
eerie.. it might have been – crying – a dark past of mine.. i
have.. a dark history... it goes back way back before i met your
father..
arthur carlson: awh, mom, you're not
dark..
vivian: i just.. wagner.. i always
listened to wagner.. but nietzsche.. he had.. provacative criticisms
of wagner.. he felt it his music.. jangled the masses.. kept them in
a state of constant nervous agitation.. a kind of anxiety opiate.. a
nervous mess of people.. germany.. war.. war...
arthur carlson: i .. i like wagner.. i
like wagner a lot.. it actually his music sooths my senses.. i like i
love the singing..
vivian: i'm glad.. i'm so very glad..
i perhaps.. understood nietszche's restive soul.. i understood
another age.. its restive spirit.. i was.. nonplussed..
