The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is known for its surprising casting choices. Throughout its existence, the superhero franchise has shocked fans with its ambitious and bold casting, underscoring the MCU’s reputation for making bold and effective casting choices.
However, there has been a recent rumor going around claiming the legend Daniel Day-Lewis is being eyed to play Magneto in the franchise. While he is back from retirement for a short while, it seems a little far-fetched, even for Kevin Feige’s Marvel Cinematic Universe, that they would be eyeing an actor like DDL.

Daniel Day-Lewis is one of the greatest actors of all time. The ultimate GOAT and an actor of actors, there is no comparison to his talent, craft, diligence, and virtuosity.
Thus, it came as joyful news when rumors of the actor being eyed by the MCU to play the mutant Magneto started swirling around. Reportedly, the popular scooper and X user @MyTimeToShineHello announced to fans that he is being ‘eyed’ for the role, fueling excitement and speculation.

Day-Lewis has long been a favorite of Marvel fans when it comes to fan casting and Magneto is one such character that he has been fan-cast multiple times over the years. However, Day-Lewis appears firmly committed to his retirement, only returning for the film Anemone, a film he co-wrote with his son, Ronan Day-Lewis, who is making his directing debut with the film.
So while it would be a dream come true for fans to see the legend take on the role of Erik Lehnsherr, it is rather preposterous to think that the actor would come back out of retirement to portray a comic book role.
