harry knowles get the textbook "linear algebra with applications" fourth edition.. by gareth williams.... published by jones and bartlett mathematics..

it's an amazingly simple to understand book.. for the novice beginner.. only the second last chapter on inner product spaces is hard to figure out but you don't need to worry about it..

sorry with apologies to the advanced introductory algebra textbooks, avoid them like the plague... I mean avoid any book but this like the plague... because some linear algebra textbooks have a LARGE section in which they make EASY, SIMPLE, BASIC math ideas IMPOSSIBLE to understand.. the section in question may be on linear combinations...
