Idea is that when you all your most
menial, trivial actions done for you by hospital staff you lose the
ability to do it them in real life. It un-does your ability to to
function in the world. Basic dynamic of the book- the hospital is a
womb ie you can't do anythin for yourself.
Your sanity ability to mentally
function coordinate thoughts is as a product of co-ordination,
physical bodily tasks in your external bodily existance- which is
lost. ..your thought process has no physical co-orrelative.
A movie of the book would have a
scene where werther-- after her discharge, she attempts to perform
the simple minimal manual operations that the hospital nurses did for
her and is lost in a dizziness chaos of disco-ordination
“put naked into the world”
have split-second flashes of her
hallucination thought – like a monkey hand – as though sparked
but barely viewed
the vision blurs, obscures becomes a
grainy blurred wash of whiteness the background is submerged by it-
their is only her sick face and her hand..
The cinema visuality drifts into
fantasy, dream- , cinema-limbo, ..
the pace of slows down to a sick, languourious
pace, all is normal, a normal slow casual pace of things- Valerie
brings her an innocuous cup to drink – the crazy it gets- the
slower, more languid, ,, more normalized in character the action
gets- all actions, spoken words, bereft, removed of meaning of drama,
of narrative logic drama momentum – as she is biting into her hand,
the unravelling of momentum, like the slowing dripping of water, the
slowing beat is what is cinematically demons demon demonstrated..

the unravellling, drying up, of
momentum.. of memontum.. of memes..
“Here, sweetie, take this to drink,
it's harmless”,
..camera focuses on her / Susanna's
face, Her face fills the screen as she drinks. Her own voice drifts
of- the sound of it unfocused..
She makes the gestures motion of
standing- camera sticks on her as she motions her body up, and
seemingly motions her self on to the floor .. The floor coming up at
her as if it was, with the similitude nature of being, a wall- a wall
raising aggressively forefully assertively up at her – as
forcefully as the force pushing her into the hospital / her mental
disorder. A wall pushing itself at her.
(pushing ITSELF / itSELF)
Her voice is further disembodied. A
greater, indiscernable distance from her. He lips move out of synch
with the sound of her voice.
Her complete disorientation as she
motions herself to stand is as her the state of her consciousness of
her mental disorder – up is down, standing up is falling down.
The effects of medication as fluid
with her mental disorder symptoms- the common nature demonstrated.
The basic / pivotal theme of teh book
to be emphasized is that no one can understand what she's saying and
the horror is taht she knows this, Entrapped in her knowledge
understanding of her own lack being understood, being able to make
herself understandable . If your not comprehensible, do you exist?
Scene wit her self-pschyo-analysis
before Melvin is pivotal.
teenage ultron: "... and Hyacinth going on about the
most pernicious form of robbery being the theft of a person's
dignity, and consequently of a personls sou.. a person's soul.. the
removal of which is irreparable, of what won't even be reclaimed..
Hyacinth was obsessed with the
of stealing peoples' identities of stealing claiming the very
outlines of a peson's self ... of shaping a never person being the
claiming, teh , the stealing of the person's identity .
Was the sculptor a thief, Did he steal by shaping- by the shaping
being HIS hands, HIs will.. His shaping will outlining the
identity of the model.
