Whilst he carries on putting his trio of Avatar sequels together, James Cameron has given himself another job to do: he’s working on a 3D conversion of Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
The last great Terminator film, Terminator 2 was first released in 1991, and Cameron has suggested before that he might do a 3D version of the movie, with the Chinese market in mind. That’s just what’s going to happen too, as Cameron is to oversee the process, pending a release from StudioCanal in 2016.
China may be the main market for the 3D fit of the movie, but it looks like it's going to get a release over here too.
This comes at a point where the one-time glut of 3D re-releases appears to be at an end. But Cameron, at the very least, can be expected to put some spectacle and effort into the process.
2016 will mark the 25th birthday of Terminator 2: Judgment Day. The chance to see the movie again on the big screen seems like an apt way to celebrate it.
