Agreed. Honestly, RotJ was not a bad movie, despite the prevailing conventional wisdom. In fact, take out the ewoks, and replace them with wookies (the original idea, before Lucas' need for marketable toys overtook his good sense), and you would have had a movie that was nearly as good as the first two.
Even as it was, it's a great movie, just one that falters a bit in the final act. And I agree that Abrams' first Trek was unfairly blasted. It was actually a pretty good movie, IMO (although possibly not a good Trek movie, at least, certainly by Trekkers' standards). But superior to RotJ? Give me a break.
