‘Smallville’s Michael Rosenbaum Up For A Return As Lex Luthor? Martin September 15, 2018 9:13 am No Comments FacebookTwitterPinterestLinkedInBlogger Fans of The WB’s Smallville were rewarded to see Michael Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor, and his battles with Clark Kent. While it has been over seven years since the show has ended, it appears you can take the man away from Lex Luthor, but you can’t take Lex Luthor out of the man, as Rosenbaum wouldn’t mind another crack as Superman’s villainous super genius foil. 4K Movies When responding to the reports of Henry Cavill potentially leaving the role of Superman in future cinematic appearances, Rosenbaum chimed in with a humorous tongue-in-cheek comment. Rosenbaum apparent shot at the current Lex, Jesse Eisenberg, who has portrayed the character in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, comes after the poor box office performances of those movies. At this time, with the whole Superman movie franchise in flux due to the WB vs Cavill controversy, there is no mention of bringing back Eisenberg as Luthor. That doesn’t mean that Rosenbaum didn’t want to keep his name out there, just in case. In the meantime, there might still be an opening for Rosenbaum, especially with the launch of the new streaming service DC Universe. With the introduction of original content as well as past shows, many fans are requesting that Smallville to be added to the service. That certainly wouldn’t hurt the wallet for cast members as far as royalty checks go for syndicated material. In this concept, it would continue where the original show left off with Clark Kent embracing his role as Superman. In addition, not having the constraints of the TV budgets that so limit broadcast television, the animated series could show full scale superhero battles that fans would expect from the Man of Steel. These kinds of scenes were not possible with the original show at the time. This idea was addressed recently by Rosenbaum and fellow Smallville castmate Tom Welling (Clark Kent) when they were asked about the possibility of the animated series at AwesomeCon. “I mean, animated could be fun,” Welling said. “I said to Al [Gough, Smalville co-creator], we should do an animated Smallville,” Rosenbaum replied. “That would be huge! I mean, Smallville: The Animated Series, with all the real voices? And I wouldn’t have to shave my head! We’ve got to do that. Can you imagine us on mics doing the same dialogue?” Kristen Kreuk, who played Lana Lang on Smallville, also seemed enthusiastic about the idea when asked about an animated series by Comicbook.Com. “Yeah, absolutely,” Kreuk said. “I’ve never thought about it, but that sounds like it could be a lot of fun… Michael wouldn’t want to shave his head again, I’m fairly certain. But yeah, that would be a lot of fun. I haven’t seen those guys in a long time.” So what do you think, Smallville fans? Would Michael Rosenbaum make a better Lex Luthor than Jesse Eisenberg? In addition, would you like to see your favorite show return in an animated series? Here is where you can make your feelings and opinions be known at GVNation.
