Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio are officially reuniting on the upcoming historical murder mystery “Killers of the Flower Moon.” Both men have been attached to the project for some time, but Variety has confirmed the project is Scorsese’s next directorial effort. Production is set to kick off in summer 2019. The film is written by Eric Roth, an Oscar winner for “Forrest Gump.”
“Killers of the Flower Moon” is based on The New York Times best-selling book by David Grann. The story is set in 1920s Oklahoma and centers around the Osage Nation murders, in which members of the Native American tribe were murdered one by one after the group became rich off the oil found underneath their land. The murders attracted the attention of the newly created FBI, who set out to investigate the crimes.
Hanno's observation.. "... Is this a movie about Val Kilmar's powerful line at the end of Michael Apted's movie, "Thunderheart".. when Val Kilmar says.. about Native American land.. that.. "This land belongs to no one".. this movie about Native Americans getting rich by finding oil underneath their Native American land.. I see so many profound levels on which this is the Native American Themiscyra.. and perhaps in a future version of a Wonder Woman movie.. British Imperialism by a truly Renaissance-Man Hercules / Heracles.. invading Themiscyra with an army of a truly advanced civilization.. invading a truly Native American Themiscyra.. that may be very well a different Wonder Woman movie than the Wonder Woman movie Scorcese is making with Megan Gale.. but.. the Native American themes are strong with the Megan Gale Wonder Woman movie as well... and this movie is also set in the 1920's.. perhaps Scorcese.. with.. "Killers of the Flower Moon".. could start construction of the sets for a truly 1920's / 1930's Plastic Man movie series with Daniel Day Lewis after Scorcese takes over as Director of the "Jack Cole's Plastic Man" movies with the third movie.. from David Cronenberg..."
