Gary Oldman didn't say this in the context of saying... that he plays people that an actor honestly should not become.. like a Dracula who gives an innocent, crying baby to female vampires to be devoured by them.. and a prison guard who horrifically batters Kevin Bacon in Alcatraz... Gary Oldman does not talk about the reality that he honestly should not become such people when he plays them..
.. but that nothing prevents him from literally becoming a decent man...
.. like Ludwig van Beethoven in "Immortal Beloved"...
… and Gary Oldman could also have said.. ".. I would NEVER have thought of becoming Dracula when I played him.. but Keanu Reeves did honestly become the man he played.. when he played the courageously compassionate Jonathan Harkness in the same movie..."..
