Tom McCamus / The Joker: ..".. second-run movie theatres.. always brings a smile to my face.. Wait'll they get a load of me.. ahhh.. before I became.. well.. the man I am.. I saw Ralph Bakshi's "Lord of the Rings" with my high-school friends.. we all sat in the two front rows.. I rather loved the movie.. I was the only one of my friends who did.. I honestly had no problem with going to a second-run movie theatre.. something about going to one with my friends.. maybe if the people who work their who want to humiliate us and call us or our friend a moron.. hey don't call any of my friends a moron who went to see Ralph Bakshi's "Lord of the Rings" with me.. anyway they say they are .. the people who work at second-run movie theatres in Toronto are entitled apparently to call your friend .. that word.. a moron.. thanks, Holden.. wait.. don't, Holden, just .. don't.. you did.. I'm.. I'm not.. Holden... if I say I'm not.. that word.. Holden.. see.. you said it.. again.. Holden.. which means .. it's true ... because.. you did.. say it.. Holden .. call me.. that.. Holden... and you said .. something.. unique.. Holden.. Caulfield.. because.. you said.. what you said.. it hurts .. actually.. how what you said.. about.. that them.. inexplicably.. and apparently it's a popular quote from "Catcher in the Rye" on the internet.. about how.. I should not... feel.. anyway.. I do.. but .. it's hard... to feel... period.. when .. your called.. that.. anyway.. Holden.. what..?.. sorry.. anyway...
Joker / Tom McCamus: ... Okay. Back. I'm .. I'm back.. Sorry.. Got distracted.. it's like.. so anyway.. I was watching Ralph Bakshi's "Lord of the Rings".. Wade is a great guy.. he said.. after the movie.. and I quote him..".. you have to admit, Scott.. their were parts of that movie that were really good..".. quoth the man Scot:.. ".. WGGHHAAHHAATTT ( parts were good )...?..".. Scott does something powerful with his voice when he talks .. like that.. anyway.. these were my friends .. in high school.. I actually rather liked.. I don't think I was allowed to love. the movie.. but I insisted on liking it when I saw it.. you had to be their.. like the other small crowd at the back of the seats in the back seats of the movie theatre.. their were only two of us.. two crowds of us in the whole second-run movie theatre.. anyway.. we were.. myself exluded.. I was quiet.. I wanted to see the movie.. all my friends immediately regretted that they had to spend maybe more than two hours of their lives seeing the movie and loudly throughout the movie made that FACT!!!.. known...
Joker / Tom McCamus: .." ... anyway.. the moral of the story is.. I have a moral.. I find out about whether I can see "How to Make an American Quilt".. which is showing several times a month.. at the beginning of the month .. at the end of the same month.. maybe in the middle of the next month.. all tehse showings of "How to make an American Quilt".. exist.. I knew I could make it to one of these showings.. I had no problem using the bus and train system in Toronto back then and wouldn't still for a few number of years proceeding thenceforth to come.. most of all .. I wanted to see Winona Ryder in "How to make an American Quilt".. For GOD'S sake.. I wish i'd bought the novel that came with the movie.. with a beautiful image of Winona Ryder on the cover.. at the Shopper's drug mart for nine or ten dollars.. instead of doing something like Scrooge or... wonder if Mr. Jaggers was this.. this way about such things.. I wonder.. I wonder... something about his name and the myth of Mr. Jaggers which you just somehow know without reading the book by Dickens.. I borrowed the book, "How to make an American Quilt' from the library instead.. I might have had a totally different life if I had used the money.. four at least four hundred dollars I got from the government from a GST rebate.. general sales tax rebate... I had the money to buy the book.. I decided not to spend the money.. I borrowed the book from the library instead.. something I've felt my whole life for a long, long time as a horrible, horrible regret...
The Joker / Tom McCamus: ..".. I didn't see the movie.. "How to make an American Quilt".. in the theatres.. in the second-run theatres.. I saw it on video.. I liked the movie.. I liked it.. but I didn't like seeing Rip Torn abused in the movie..
The Joker / Tom McCamus: ..".. I think.. I had to borrow the book of the movie.. the book the movie was based on.. from the library.. it might have been a book especially made for libraries.. maybe for me.. maybe for me.. especially.. in especial value.. they fucked it up in the movie.. their's no other way for saying it.. sorry for swearing.. I mean it and I'm sorry I have to swear or feel I have to swear to say it.. the line in the book, what the husband says in the book is, ".. it was the only way I could get close to you (paraphrasing)..".. his wife is.. shocked.. stunned.. by this.. into silence.. that's what happened in the novel.. I forget the name of the author...
