Novelist Steve McCluhan (Steve Coll) has a prodigious task ahead of him... to write about the theme and subject of billion-dollar white-collar corporate fraud, of which we have all been horribly, horribly, horribly, horribly victimized by.. as something that doesn't matter.. as something not horrible at all.. as something.. lightweight, innocuous, innocent, and most of all, part and parcell of the great classic american dream... to have this be the conversation that soldiers in a military helicopter on it's way to Afghanistan at the very beginning of the burgeoning Afghani war in 2001 / 2002.. how can tehse soldiers say, "God bless America" about this theme.. at all.. I .. when I write this novel about post 9/11 America / United States.. I'm going to write dialogue / conversational dialogue, a conversation between two soldiers on this theme / subject that lasts exactly as long as two of the Adam Verver chapters of Henry James's "The Golden Bowl".. no less.. than that length.. no less than that length will be the conversation about white-collar fraud be between two soldiers on a helicopter when I write this Tom Clancy / Oliver North - esque novel under teh writer's name, "Hanno Ridal Raudsepp"...
