.. reading a French translation of Dostoevsky's "The Possessed" may cause spare change around your house to be scarce and insufficient and you're father might be unavailable to give you spare change if you read that book in French.. but if you read "Ulysses" in German by James Joyce, especially the "pineapple rock" chapter, in tandem with the previous book, your father should be soon available to give you some money for coffee..
