Harvey Dent: .. I am president of a not-so rotten republic.. their is much hope here, much optimism, in the District attorney's office... it is a labyrinth which spells and smells of good indian spices.. their is something.. indian about this old, rather ancient District attorney's office.. a good Sanskrit dew.. a raj an imperial raj am I... I am ready to ride an elephant into Gotham.. but.. no.. what if.. NO.. I can't .. become .. a Kurz.. for Kurz hurt elephants and elephants are sacred to a District attorney.. because we both have trunks.. heh.. or satchels or briefcases.. wait.. okay.. i'll work on it.. my sense of humour.. gotta have one.. errhhh.. haiku.. okay sokay.. so .. I have thoughts about British colonialism in India in the early part of the twentieth century.. George Orwell once wrote in his memoirs that .. or in an essay.. that .. Gandhi .. Mahatma Gandhi was a preferable agent in India in the vision of Winston Churchill to prevent a more militant insurgent in India from taking his place.. Gandhi's place.. Orwell felt Churchill preferred the pacifistic, diplomatic Mahatma Gandhi to a more violent, insurgent Indian revolutionary who would take a different tack against British Imperialism in India.. So is this how I approach Gotham.. in terms of such political themes as District Attorney.. do I think like a Winston Churchill.. will I someday have a Green book too.. where is the Green party anyway and what is it doing?.. Ralph Nader?.. Is he involved?...
.. a monologue for Tommy lee jones's Harvey Dent...
