Do you have a problem with accountability?

What about the stupid, misguided fools who will believe ANYTHING Hillary says? Or the crazy, racists, black trash votes who vote Democrat no matter who the candidate is? Anyone foolish enough to vote for the lying Hillary has some serious issues.

You know, it is possible to acknowledge Hilary's shady dealings and still think she's a better candidate than Trump. Her crookedness isn't any worse than typical everyday political gamesmanship. We've seen it before, we'll see it again. And while she's padding her pockets, she'll still manage to run the country at the very least competently. If you don't mind the status quo, she'll be okay.

Why did this Star Wars thread suddenly get political??? Oh yeah, Reel Catcher flipped the script for no apparent reason. Like every presidential race, we're voting for the lesser of two evils. Jeeez, now I know why Daisy Ridley shut down her Twitter & Instagram. SEE, I flipped it back to Star Wars haha

Ahhh those racist Democrats. Always trying to build walls, deport Muslims, making fun of handicapped people, denying homosexuals are people, and making sure minorities can't vote while telling women what they can and can't do with their bodies.

Who is endorsing him? I live in So Cal and literally do not know one person who has ever admitted that they're going to vote for him. I tend to be on the conservative side, but I can't in good conscience vote for him.
                        • Avatar
I live in California and have lots of neighbors voting for him. Many won't admit it openly, but they're still voting for him. I think the polls are off because of how many people don't like admitting it, but DO intend to vote for him on Election Day. And since they hate Hillary so much, that includes some Dem neighbors crossing over, too.
And if you "tend to be on the conservative side" and "can't in good conscience" vote for him, then I hope that same "conscience" prevents you from voting for a serial liar and crook like Hillary, and that you're at least voting third party and Gary Johnson.

It's not at all about being spoon-fed, it would take one simple bumper at the beginning of the trailer. You have to remember that you're not a casual viewer, you're a hardcore film lover. You've known about this film for yrs now. There are people who just heard about this movie today and it doesn't make sense when you see Vader. You guys are being way too harsh about this very simple, rational point.

Come on man, you really want this dumbed down more? Audiences have been dealing with prequels and spinoffs non stop for like, at least the last 20 years. They will figure it out. Such a non issue.

Exactly! Trailers are SUPPOSED to set up enough mystery to get you to want to see the film!! It's a Star Wars story!
If you liked ANY of the films you can go see it to answer any stupid questions you may have. Why is Vader back? Go see it to find out. Where's Rey? Go see it and find out. Why does everyone need all the answers right up front?! Gah! Live with a little mystery in your life! Part of the fun is the JOURNEY to the answers!

This is a valid point, I've had to explain to two casual fans that this is a prequel film. And these aren't people who are idiots, they just don't follow it religiously the way I (we) do.
I think they expected the shot of Vader to make it clear. Not sure it worked that way.

Double goes for comic book movies, sequels, prequels, side-quels, reboots, remakes, reboots of remakes, remakes of reboots, ongoing movie series based on young adult novels, found footage horror movies, movies based on TV series, TV series based on movies, filmmakers that weren't alive in the Eighties making movies and TV shows set in the Eighties designed to evoke nostalgia for the Eighties, remakes where the big original idea is to swap genders, movies based on popular video games, memes and emojis, CGI movies referred to as "animated movies", script notes from studio douchebags that use the term "doesn't track" or "character arc" and anybody who thinks using orange and teal color palettes or that silver-nitrate washed out grainy look shit that Fincher did back on SEVEN is still a "thing". There are probably millions of unmade, well-written original screenplays floating around out there that could be made by any one of a vast contingent of talented guys and gals who either busted their asses in film school or busted them a lot harder by working their way up the ladder on sets to learn the forgotten art of making movies, and I'd rather not wait a couple more years until the studio system implodes from mega-tentpole-blockbuster overkill to see them.

There won't be room for anything at the box office but crazy CGI superhero movies and there won't be any money in producing anything else except the occasional decent TV series or iPhone-wielding kids cranking out shit for damn near free.
My rant is actually more like bitching about how there's nothing original on the radio today because illegal downloading wiped out all the middle-class labels and now, all that's left are the two or three high-end corporations cranking out Top Forty shit that gets 100 pecent of the remaining radio airplay and marketing, and a jillion unsigned bands floating around on Bandcamp and self-releasing albums that you'll never hear about because there's nowhere left to sell them. Ever "discover" a new band on iTunes, YouTube or even Pandora? Good luck.
The same thing is happening to the movie industry, except for different reasons: streaming made video stores obsolete and the profit margin for anything made for under 100 million became too small to keep it worthwhile, even as the budgets for today's blockbusters have skyrocketed and made it impossible for the smaller guy to compete. There may or may not be more indy movies out there today than ever (like the music industry, the technology to make something broadcast quality is cheap and available to everyone), but there are most definitely fewer and fewer places to sell or screen those films.
Eventually, the streaming market (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon) is going to spend more money to license bigger movies to attract more customers, as well as financing more and more of their self-produced content, and that market will be off the table. The roadshow indy distributors like A24 won't have theatrical venues because most arthouse theaters are struggling to stay afloat (and being muscled out by rampant cineplexes), and as I just illustrated above, their home video options are even more limited. Hell, in two years, even the giant blockbusters are going to have a tough time competing for the average ticket-buyers' cash -- there's going to be waaaaaay too many of them out at the same time.
Lest you think that's just more insane old man rambling, let's look at the 2018 release slate for big budget studio movies: AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, READY PLAYER ONE, PACIFIC RIM 2, AQUAMAN, TOY STORY 4, DEADPOOL 2, BLACK PANTHER, THE FLASH, HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON 3, ANT-MAN AND THE WASP, JURASSIC WORLD 2, THE PREDATOR, FIFTY SHADES FREED, JUNGLE BOOK: ORIGINS, MARY POPPINS RETURNS, TOMB RAIDER, BATTLE ANGEL ALITA, FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM 2, THE SECRET LIFE OF PETS 2, an animated SPIDER-MAN movie, HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 3, THE WOLF MAN, WRECK-iT RALPH 2, whatever they're gonna call that STAR WARS Han Solo movie, a TRANSFORMERS Bumblebee spinoff movie, MAZE RUNNER: THE DEATH CURE, HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS, GIGANTIC, MADAGASCAR 4, INDEPENDENCE DAY 3, GAMBIT, THE INVISIBLE MAN, UPRISING and MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 6. Twenty of those are scheduled to come out a week apart.

Indie movies are bigger than ever now, you just have to seek them out (maybe try keeping track of Guy Pearce's resume, for instance). There are literally too many good films to see all of them right now, not sure what you're really getting at here. There's no point expecting anything but blockbusters to have wide release during the summertime.

There use to be a show on AMC called Sunday Morning Shootout with two guys that were Hollywood Movie producers. They use to interview actors and such and get some really good insight on how Hollywood actually worked.
On one episode,I remember them talking about how there are literally tens of thousands of screenplays stacked on the floors of all of the producer in H-Wood,and almost none of them ever get read because screenplays, more or less, have to get "vouched for".
That show was absolutely great and had incredible insight about how shit goes down. Wish it was still on.
