wonder woman

It's no secret that Warner Bros. is having a tough time with their DC Extended Universe. While Man of Steel was alright, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice was ravaged by critics and failed to meet box office expectations. Suicide Squad may be doing great in the box office right now, but it's gotten a similar treatment from critics, with some claiming the film is an absolute mess. Recent rumors have stated that Wonder Woman is in similar danger, but now director Patty Jenkins has stepped forward to claim that the rumors are basically a Lasso of Lies.
Recently, an open letter from an anonymous alleged former Warner Bros. employee was published online, airing grievances against the company and its film slate. The letter claimed that Wonder Woman was just as much of a "mess" as Suicide Squad, and that a bad movie is hiding behind a great trailer. Patty Jenkins took to Twitter with a series of tweets reassuring fans that Wonder Woman is doing just fine, and that there isn't a lick of truth in the letter.
Woah, just saw this press about WW having problems. Are they serious? This is some made up bs right here. Made up! Produce a source, anyone. You can't because it's entirely false. Don't believe the hype people. Someone's trying to spread some serious misinfo. Isn't until you are intimately involved in these things that you realize how totally false these rumors can. Let me reassure you, zero about the movie we are making has been called a mess by anyone in the know. Fact. Real lasso of truth, time, will reveal that letter to be false soon enough. But lame something so transparent in its agenda gets traction.
First off, let's preface this with no director will ever say a movie they are currently working on is bad (unless you're Josh Trank). That being said, Patty Jenkins has a point that the letter may have gotten more traction than it should have. The author only claims to be an ex-employee of Warner Bros., and provides no proof or source to this information. It should all be taken with a pretty heavy grain of salt. Also, the letter provides no specific problems with Wonder Woman, only using a general term like "mess" to sum up its issues. Are there actual problems with Wonder Woman? We'll have no way of knowing until the film comes out.
Warner Bros. has been making a concerted effort to revamp their approach to superhero films. They've appointed Geoff Johns as co-head of DC Films, and he'll serve as a Kevin Feige-type figure making sure that the movies are true to the characters. Suicide Squad was too far along to really be affected by this shift in focus, but the same is not necessarily true for Wonder Woman. Johns also is the co-writer of the film, and Wonder Woman has plenty of time to work out any potential issues in the many months leading up to its release date. Of course, it's possible that there aren't any problems at all.
We'll find out if there are any truth to these rumors when Wonder Woman finally hits theaters on June 2, 2017.
