See The Last Jedi Officially In The Star Wars Episode VIII Opening Crawl!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Fresh off the official announcement of the new Star Wars title director Rian Johnson went a step further and Instagram'd out a photo from the editing room showing The Last Jedi snuggled in right at home in the opening crawl for Star Wars Episode VIII.
This isn't the first time the words "The Last Jedi" were used in a Star Wars crawl. Luke Skywalker is referred to as The Last Jedi in the Episode VII crawl if you remember, but that doesn't necessarily mean there's nothing more to the Episode VIII title. When Lucas changed the Episode VI title from Revenge of the Jedi to Return of the Jedi he gave it a deeper meaning. Yes, Luke Skywalker returned, but so did his pops. Darth Vader was destroyed and Anakin Skywalker returned to the light.
Whatever the deeper meaning of the title is (if there even is one) I for one am dying to see what the rest of the crawl says. I know we have to have a trailer coming soon, but I'm a little depressed that we're still 11 months away from seeing the continuing adventures of Rey, Finn, Poe, BB-8 and the real return of Luke Skywalker. Someone speed up time a little bit for me, okay?
