Ancient jug with man on top found in Israel
During an excavation in Yehud, Israel, a team of archaeologists and high school students exhumed a 3,800-year-old pottery jug with a pensive man on top.

Believed to be a funeral offering, the middle bronze age-jug, is marked by the 7-inch (18 cm) statuette which appears to be shaped like a man lost in thought. Excavation director Gilad Itach said: “It seems that at first the jug, which is typical of the period, was prepared and afterwards the unique sculpture was added, the likes of which have never before been discovered in previous research.”
Other vessels and metal items like arrow heads, daggers, an axe head and bones of sheep and donkey were also found at the site.
Itach added: “To the best of my knowledge such a rich funerary assemblage that also includes such a unique pottery vessel has never before been discovered in the country.”
